Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the moon. The main goal of Apollo 11, set by President John F. Kennedy, was to successfully land astronauts on the moon and bring them back. The aircraft to the moon was launched on July 16, 1969 and after three days of travel through space, the Apollo aircraft entered the moons atmosphere. The goal was later met when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon on July 20, 1969 and became the first men to walk on the moon and come back to earth.
